Will Romero Vs David Douglas; Score Fighting Series Hamilton
Three other fights confirmed for August 25th card
TORONTO, Aug 3, 2012 — The Score Fighting Series (SFS) has announced four additional bouts for its Saturday, August 25th event in Hamilton, Ontario. On the main card, explosive featherweight, Will “Leon” Romero (9-3) of Brampton, Ontario will face Strikeforce veteran David “Tarzan” Douglas (8-4) of Antioch, California. Other confirmed fights include Ryan Dickson vs Chris St. Jean, Elias Theodorou vs Simon Marini and Jason Saggo vs Eric Attard.
Romero, 29, is a Bellator and SFS veteran. A fan favourite, Romero’s fights rarely go to decision and with seven of his victories coming via stoppage. In his last two performances, Romero posted a highlight KO victory over Stephane Bernadel at the SFS October event and finished Matt Veal with a flurry of strikes at Bellator’s most recent Casino Rama card. Romero trains out of Kru Alin Halmagean’s House of Champions in Stoney Creek and the world famous Tri-Star Gym in Montreal, Quebec.
Romero’s win over Bernadel came at the Hamilton Place Theatre which is the same venue being used for the August card. “People often say, ‘lighting doesn’t strike twice in the same place’ but I like to beat the odds,” Romero said. “This time I’m going to bring thunder to Hamilton Place!”

Douglas is known for his fast starts and spectacular finishes. The 29-year-old trains out of the Cesar Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy in California and is a six-time veteran of Strikeforce and EliteXC. Douglas has never gone to a decision in his professional career with seven of his wins coming in the form of T/KO .

Undefeated Ryan Dickson (2-0) of Burlington, Ontario takes his skills to the cage against dangerous Chris St-Jean (5-3) in a welterweight (170 pounds) contest. Dickson also posted a perfect 6-0 record at the amateur level and is a protégé of former UFC fighter Jeff Joslin. St-Jean trains under Pat Cooligan at the Ottawa Academy of Martial Arts (OAMA) and has won five of his last six fights.
Canadian MMA veteran Simon Marini (9-4) of Hamilton, Ontario returns to face the undefeated Elias “The Spartan” Theodorou (4-0) in a middleweight affair. Marini took time off from competing in MMA in 2010 before returning this past June with a newfound passion. Marini has stated that he is “unimpressed” with what he as seen of Theodorou so far although “The Spartan” has seen his stock rise after a decision victory over Erik Herbert at the SFS March event and finishing Rich Lictawa in his Bellator debut in April.
Saggo, 26, is a very well rounded fighter who has honed his striking while competing professionally in Muay Thai and also showcased a dynamic ground game while winning five of his MMA fights via submission. In his last bout, Saggo (6-1) stopped Kevin Morin in the third round by TKO. Attard, 25, is looking to rebound from a decision loss this past April. Like Saggo, he looks to finish fights with three of his four wins coming via stoppage. Attard sports an overall record of 4-2.
These four fights will compliment a card that already includes a long awaited bantamweight confrontation between Josh Hill (8-0) and John “Haggis Basher” Fraser (9-3) as well as a striker’s duel between Jesse “The Body Snatcher” Ronson (10-2) and Alex Ricci (5-0).
Every fight on the card will be streamed live on theScore.com and for the first time ever, fights from the main card will be carried live on theScore Television Network starting at 9 p.m. EST. Tickets start at $30 and are available at Ticketmaster.ca.
